Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt

Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt is a Professor of Social Work and African American Studies at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Afro-one Dance, Drama and Drum Theatre, Inc. A twenty year (1973-1993) resident of Willingboro, New Jersey, Pat founded Afro-One as a way of assuring the availability of cultural and performing arts programming for area youths.

In an on-going effort to maintain organizational viability, Pat has assumed many roles, including: teacher, choreographer, administrator, costume designer, costume maker, grant writer, booking agent, promotional director. A few years ago, Pat added author to her list of accomplishments by writing Sister Power: How Phenomenal black women are Rising to the Top  and her latest book, Sister Wisdom: 7 Pathways to a Satisfying Life for Soulful Black Women (John Wiley and Sons).
